Poon

Our patients: Poon, 66 years, is happy again

Poon is a 66 years old woman who lives in Ban Nalaan, a village in the south of Laos. Within one year, her eye sight has gone rapidly downhill. Especially her right eye deteriorated quickly. Of course, she worried about this a great deal, and although she received a lot of support from the people around her, they could not help her any further. For instance, the monk wished her a good health and her family sent her to the eye department of the local hospital. However, the hospital doctors did not want to do the surgery, because she could not afford it. Fortunately, Poon's cousin told her about the free eye surgeries by Asian Eye Care. She waited for Asian Eye Care to visit the eye clinic in Pakse and had her surgery in November 2013. The surgery was very successful, because immediately after the bandage had been removed from her eye, she saw everything clearly again. Poon is happy with her new life. She can help her family again in gardening and she can cook again, as she used to do.
